  • In addition to including your degree, make sure to include your concentration within your education

  • Add any relevant projects (papers, group projects, research, etc.) you've done within your classes or practicum assignment

  • Tailor a specific skills/technology section to hard skills you've built through your experiences and education (program evaluation, fundraising, grant writing, survey design, SPSS just to name a few!)

Interviews

Interviews can be tough! Below are some recommendations for how to prepare yourself to nail the next one...

  • Research the company and interviewer prior to the interview to have a general understanding of the company and the role that the interviewer has in the company

  • Always prepare questions to ask in an interview! Reference DePaul's Career Center handout for inspiration.

Review your resume and the job description prior to the interview to ensure you are able to provide a wide range of examples from your background and achievements as evidence supporting why you'd be a good fit for the role.

LinkedIn

Curating your LinkedIn profile can help build your public health network. See our suggestions down below...

  • For each experience, instead of including all of the bullet points from your resume/CV- consider highlighting 1-2 key responsibilities or takeaways

    • Include key skills with each experience

  • Add any certifications you've obtained to your profile

  • Add any "activities and societies" within your education section to share your involvement outside of the classroom

  • Include any honors & awards you've received through your education (Deans List, graduation distinction, scholarships, etc.)

  • "Follow" organizations that are of interest to you, a lot of them post their job/internship opportunities on their LinkedIn pages

  • Connect with alumni that are working at or in an area that interests you

    • Search DePaul University in the search tab, click on our page, click on the alumni tab, search by keyword/title/company to explore alumni in your desired industry
